Top 2025/2026 Student Questions

For anyone who attends our live broadcast workshops, we dedicate about 15 minutes to Q&A. In classrooms, students can send questions from any device, whether it is a phone, laptop, Chromebook, or anything with a web browser. We do not ask for names or emails and advise everyone in advance to avoid including any personal information in their message. Compared to when we present in person, we have witnessed that we get far more questions and inquiries, along with better quality overall.
From what we have experienced and heard from students:
1. Anonymity from peers removes potential peer embarrassment when asking an important or sensitive question.
2. Upvoting systems crowdsource the top entries, meaning the most common questions get addressed first.
Looking at all the questions from the 2025–2026 school year, we have compiled a list of the top questions we received from students:

Privacy Paranoia: Youth Feel Watched, Tracked, and Exposed
The single largest factor of student inquiry wasn't social media drama; it was privacy. The Privacy, Tracking & Surveillance category drew the highest audience engagement of any specific topic, with 1,028 total upvotes across 323 unique questions.
When we break down these questions, a clear pattern emerges: there appears to be some level of anxiety regarding constant surveillance. Students want to know where the boundary lies between technical reality and digital rumour:
"Does your phone or Alexa (devices in general) actually listen to your conversations?"
"Can parents or other people see my search history through Wi-Fi or a shared account?"
"Is ChatGPT spying on us?
"Is it possible for people to hack into my camera and record me changing?"
Sexual Exploitation and the Fear of Reporting
While broad security concerns like hacking generate high question volume (349 unique questions), risky personal safety questions seem to carry some urgency. Sextortion & Intimate Images generated 142 unique questions and 362 upvotes, while CSAM, Grooming & Predators accounted for 91 questions and 316 upvotes.
The submissions show teens grappling with non-consensual image sharing, coercion, and systemic breakdowns when attempting to seek help:
"Last year a naked picture of myself was sent out, and the photo is still circulating. How should I deal with this?"
"If my boyfriend is asking for not good stuff and I don't want to but he's getting mad what should I do?"
"I had a police officer tell me I would be charged with distribution of CSAM if I pursued a case against the boy who leaked my images. Knowing this is false, can I go after the police who threatened me?"
These questions highlight a critical gap between the real-world lived experiences of teens and traditional educational processes. When youth face image-based abuse or coercion, fear of legal trouble or adult overreaction may prevent them from seeking help. Furthermore, the complex intersection of human sexuality and technology creates nuanced situations that cannot be solved with oversimplified "sexting is bad" messaging.
Generative AI, Gaming Platforms, and the Backlog of Support
Two emerging trends seem to be at the top of student inquiry: generative artificial intelligence and online gaming environments.
Generative AI Concerns: With 225 questions and 544 upvotes, youth are asking sharp questions about deepfakes, ethical AI use, and targeted harassment (e.g., "Does the AI-generated nudes work on people in baggy clothes in pictures?").
Gaming Communities: Generating 234 questions and 400 upvotes, popular platforms like Roblox, Discord, Fortnite, and Xbox represent primary social hubs where youth encounter grooming risks, unmoderated voice chats, and monetary scams. Questions like "How do you feel about Roblox not doing anything about the predators?" show that youth are aware of platform moderation failures.
