Having presented social media safety and digital literacy education to over 1080 schools and 600,000 youth throughout Canada and the United States, we have heard one message loud and clear from educators, counselors, youth care workers, and community-based mental health workers; that message - “Many of our youth that we interact with are facing social media dilemmas, but yet we have never received any in-depth training on what youth are doing online, and what we can do to both help our student/client and protect ourselves at the same time.” We have now developed a 2hr Pro-D training workshop that will provide participants with the information and online best practices needed to understand what youth are doing online, and what workers can do to better serve their student/client if faced with youth-based social media conflict or online critical incidents. This training will also “dovetail” nicely into any threat assessment model.
