In-Person Program, Live HD Broadcast
Internet Safety For Organizations
This session is designed to address the risks to organizations of all varieties from small businesses, non-profits, and corporations face in today’s digital environment. We explore tactics and methods of infiltration used by today’s cybercriminal while also providing methods of reducing this risk. From the most junior employee with limited access, to upper-level management, every member of an organization is just as much a security asset as they are a risk if unaware of the threats. This program will provide participants with the necessary knowledge to start combating and identifying cyber threats in the workplace.
Education is the first step in keeping employees and companies safer in this technology-driven world. Technology is only a tool, we can determine its function & value because it's a conscious choice to do so. Research has shown, however, that without good digital literacy education it becomes more challenging for employees to make the right online choices. This presentation is designed to provide participants with proactive online "critical thinking" and decision-making strategies that they can immediately apply. Knowledge and the understanding and application of that knowledge is power. Our seminar will provide the knowledge and information that adults, employees and businesses need to know about the internet and social networks, to stay safer and become more digitally literate, savvy and resilient, thus protecting personal and corporate information and infrastructure when online at home or at work.
We love the fact that we are "disrupting" how social media safety and digital literacy has traditionally been presented to corporate and private industry, which has garnered us some critics, especially from those who see us as their competition. Our approach to sharing our information on this topic is “different,” and very “current,” when compared to others in our industry, something that we are very proud of, and why our programs have received 5 awards. We love what we do, and how we do it!
While others in our industry seek out police endorsements or advertise that they have or do work with law enforcement, "WE ARE" current or past law enforcement professionals and scholars that bring this experience and pedigree to all of our programs. There is a difference!
Our work in the area of internet/social media safety was recognized with the prestigious 2013 Social Media Derek K Miller Award (most inspiring social media user), for our unique work in the area of internet/social media safety both here in Canada and the United States. We are the only company in Canada, to be recognized by a very respected panel of independent North American Social Media Experts for our work in this area. In February 2017 The BC Government & Radius SFU awarded Brandon, with the 2017 BC Social Innovations Youth Award for his work and advocacy with youth, tweens, teens and adults in the areas of social media safety and digital literacy

On-Site Cybersecurity Risks
Cybersecurity is not just about online account hacking. One of the greatest risks to an individual or organizations is the presented insecurity of mishandling technology. Firewalls and antivirus are great but are useless if circumvented via physical insecurities. This session aims to help address concerns regarding the protection of the physical components of technology. Some topics covered include securing devices, data disposal, backups, level of access, and maintaining systems.
Mobile computing is everywhere. Today, business and personal communications are directly accessible at anytime, anywhere via the advancement of smartphones. These devices are no longer simply for talk and text. Thanks to the growth of technology, we can do anything, the capabilities of what our devices can do are endless. With this level of power and access comes some risk as with any digitally-connected device. The same level of concern over the home or work computer should be applied to all digitally-connected devices, especially mobile phones. This session aims to inform participants of the concerns associated with using mobile devices.

The White Hatter Experience
What Makes Our Programs Special
We are recognized industry leaders and experts in the fields of internet and social media safety and digital literacy training. Students, teachers, principals, parents, counsellors, business professionals, and law enforcement throughout North America have all agreed that our presentation was the “best" and most "in-depth" they have experienced on the topic. Our presentations stand out as a “must-have" program for elementary and high school students, thus why our programs have been heard by more Students and have won more awards, than any other programs in Canada over the past three years.
Our program is not just about internet safety, it’s also about digital citizenship and literacy, online ethics, online critical thinking, and the challenges surrounding privacy, cyberbullying, and what we can do now to protect their digital footprint. The goal of our programs is not to instill fear or negate opportunities, rather to enlighten, empower, and enable participants to make informed online choices.
Law Enforcement Experience
While others in our industry seek out police endorsements or advertise that they have or do work with law enforcement, we are comprised of current or past law enforcement professionals, and bring this experience and pedigree to all of our programs.
We Stay Current
We stay current on everything we do, and we have documented evidence that our presentation positively changes internet behaviour. We are also very proud of the fact that our programs have intervened in the lives of many, especially in our grade school programs where students who were contemplating suicide or self-harm as an option because they were in crisis or being targeted by cyberbullying or sexting went wrong issues. These students heard our empathetic message, reached out to us for help, and in each and every case (often working with their school) we were able to get them the help that they needed.
Bring Our Own Equipment
For our In-person programs, we bring all our own equipment (laptop, projector, microphone, and auditorium sound system); all you need to provide is a table, screen, electrical cord, and power source.
Our programs are designed not only from extensive experience but also academic support. Members of The White Hatter Team come from a variety of backgrounds in formal post-secondary education and bring a breadth of knowledge with how technology impacts the world from each individual and society.
